New guidelines provide little guidance

Last Updated Aug 2007

While I applaud the government's new recommendation to eat 5 to 13 servings of fruits and vegetables (the Zone Diet recommends 10-15 servings) per day, the new nutritional guidelines still provide little guidance to any practical approach to a low glycemic-load diet like the Zone Diet. The strongest recommendation of the new dietary guidelines is to exercise 90 minutes a day to lose weight. This appears to be unrealistic in today's world. On the other hand, the Zone Diet has been shown consistently to be a diet without hunger since it maintains blood sugar levels between meals. Furthermore, the Zone Diet has been shown by Harvard Medical School to be an anti-inflammatory diet. In the absence of any truly solid dietary guidelines, the best advice is to explore www.drsears.com and take control of your dietary future using dietary recommendations that have been consistently demonstrated to provide superior results to the recommendations of the USDA.
