In 2004, my triglycerides were 820. My doctor prescribed Lopid. In three months, I was sick, from the emergency room to the hospital. At the time, my triglycerides were down to 140, so my doctor let me stop Lopid. One month later, my triglycerides jumped up to 567, then I had to go back on Lopid. By then I knew it might be the side effects of Lopid that made me sick. I was reluctant to take it. Three months later, my doctor let me change to Lipitor. I worried about the side effects of Lipitor as well. I tried to stop this medicine.
In March 2005, I started the Zone Diet. In April 2005, my triglycerides were 43, cholesterol was 104, (before it was around 200). This result still had some affect of the Lipitor, but it helped me to stop Lipitor. I stopped taking Lipitor. Two months later, I had a test again. My triglycerides were 78, and cholesterol was 149. This was completely dependent on the Zone diet, not any medicine.
I am very glad that I reached my first my goal of getting rid of the medicine that would harm my liver. I also reached my second goal of decreasing my weight about 30 pounds within 3 months. Since then, I have been able to control my weight at my ideal. Since 2005 to now 2007, my triglyceride and cholesterol have been in s good range and I have been in good health.
