Adolescent bone growth

Last Updated Oct 2007

Q: Since fish oil supplementation is associated with increased dopamine production, and dopamine is closely linked to growth hormone, is it possible that fish oil supplementation can increase bone growth in adolescents?

A: Fish oil is more closely related to increased growth hormone release that will aid in bone growth as well as increased muscle mass production. It is also related to the decrease in bone inflammation that is tied to osteoporosis.
