Parkinson’s

Last Updated Sep 2009

I have been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in the last six
months. Is there any food supplement that I can take that will halt the
progress of the disease? I look forward to hearing your advice. Should I not take a Dopamine Agonist for stiffness and tremor? Are there new drugs coming on board with fewer side effects.  Please also give your opinion on stem cell in the treatment. I was prescribed Requip and am taking 0.5mg at the moment.  I am also taking Omacor – two grams of fish oil.

Many thanks,
Phyl

A:  Two grams of Omacor provide only  1.7 grams of EPA and DHA.  I usually recommend a minimum of 10 grams of EPA and DHA along with a strict Zone Diet to reduce neuro-inflammation.  Stem cells have a nasty potential of becoming cancer cells.
