Inflammation getting under control
Last Updated Sep 2007
My name is Randy, and I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis August of '06. I'm 46 and have always been athletic and exercised regularly. By November I could hardly go up and down a single flight of stairs. By January I was on the full dose of injectable Methotexate (1 cc) and full dose of Sulfasalazine. There was little if any change in my condition with this medication. I still took the full dose of Ketoprophin (NSAID) and some Vicodin. In February of '07 I read Dr. Sears book "The Anti-Inflammation Zone" and began taking about 7000mg of EPA and 5000 of DHA a day along with a few ounces of Mangosteen, a supplement of Vitamins E, A, D, a multi- vitamin, hyaluronic acid, and collagen. By three months I am almost completely off the Methotrexate, down to 25 percent of NSAIDs and back to 90 percent health. I am back to mountain biking. I ran out of the Mangosteen about three weeks ago and then flared up four days later to January's c-reactive protein levels. After getting back on the Mangosteen supplement, a couple of days later my blood levels were completely normal again. I attribute my healing primarily to the omega-3, Mangosteen, my avoidance of wheat and sugar, and also staying on a low-glycemic diet. I am pretty sure in a few months I will be completely back to normal with no symptoms and no medication other than maybe the Sulfasalzine, which I believe helps. Thank you so much Dr. Sears for writing your book.
