Sharon says:

I have high oxalic acid. How do I incorporated the zone program with oxalic acid restriction?

Barry Sears says:

Elevated levels of oxalic acid in the urine are an indication of the potential development of kidney stones, which are composed of crystals of calcium oxalate. First, I would recommend increasing your water intake to about 3 liters per day to reduce the formation of calcium oxalate crystals. Second, I would decrease your intake of foods high in oxalic acid, such as spinach, rhubarb, beets, plums, chocolate, tea, nuts, and nut butters. Finally, consuming foods high in calcium like dairy products will provide calcium that can bind to the oxalic acid and remove it by urination before kidney stones can be produced.
