The Zone

What is the Zone?

Being in the Zone is your indication that you have optimized your body’s natural ability to heal from injury-induced inflammation. The Zone is not some mystical place, but a real physiological state controlled by your diet and defined by specific blood markers. Either you are in the Zone, or you’re not.

In the Zone, the hormones and genes that can be altered by your diet are optimized to enhance the body’s natural healing response. Being in the Zone also means you have a greater likelihood in preventing the development of chronic disease as well as better managing any existing chronic conditions.

Why do you want to be in the Zone?
To optimize your body’s natural healing response, you need to reduceresolve, and repair the damage caused by injury-induced inflammation. The orchestration of the dietary components that makes that goal possible is called the Resolution Response. If you are successful you’ll be able to maintain an extended period of wellness, enjoy the benefits of longer healthspan, as well as slowing the rate of the aging.

How do you get to the Zone?
By following a personalized nutrition program using a combination of the Zone diet, omega-3 fatty acids, and polyphenols. This defined program represents the Pro-Resolution Nutrition system that is the fastest and most clinically validated way to reach the Zone as well as to stay there to maintain your wellness.

Reaching the Zone requires thinking of your diet as medicine. Although this concept was first articulated by Hippocrates, to reach the Zone means understanding how the components of your diet interact to control the hormonal and genetic response necessary to optimize the body’s natural ability to heal.

The molecular biology that makes healing possible is under profound dietary control. This means your diet can either optimize or inhibit your natural internal healing process. Using the Pro-Resolution Nutrition system allows you the ability to restore your natural ability to heal.

Your progress to the Zone can be determined by a simple blood testing using a finger-stick test that requires only a drop of blood to see how close you are to being in the Zone. These blood markers also indicate how well you are controlling each of the dietary factors that optimize the Resolution Response.

The clinical markers that define the Zone

The levels of certain blood lipids and a marker of long term glucose control are all you need to determine how close you are to the Zone. The lipids are triglycerides (TG), high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL), arachidonic acid (AA), and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA). The clinical marker of long-term glucose control comes from the level of glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c).

(1) The TG/HDL ratio indicates how successful you are in reducing diet-induced    inflammation. The TG/HDL ratio is a marker of your current level of insulin resistance and primarily controlled by following the Zone diet.

(2) The AA/EPA ratio indicates how successful you are in resolving cellular inflammation. The AA/EPA ratio is primarily controlled by your dietary intake of omega-3 fatty acids.

(3) The level of glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) indicates you success in repairing tissue damaged by cellular inflammation by activating the gene transcription AMPK. This is primarily controlled by your dietary intake of polyphenols.

Everyone is different. That’s why your blood is your ultimate test of your state of wellness.  Either you are in the Zone or you are not.

It’s only when you are in the Zone that your ability to heal is optimal. Once you are in the Zone, you are ideally positioned to achieve your desired health goals at every stage of life. Only when each of these clinical markers that define the Zone are in their appropriate ranges can your body optimally reduce, resolve, and repair the inflammatory damage caused by any injury.

On the other hand, the higher the level of any blood markers that define the Zone, the more you are blocking your body’s natural ability to heal. The result of not being in the Zone is that chronic unresolved inflammation is beginning to build up in every organ in your body. This means your state of wellness is eroding which will shorten your eventual healthspan. This is why being in the Zone is your best insurance policy to maintain wellness.
