Alzheimer’s Disease & Metabolic Engineering

Did you know Alzheimer’s disease is often called “type 3 diabetes”? That’s because of its strong connection to insulin resistance.

When insulin resistance impacts the brain, it struggles to generate energy from glucose, putting essential cellular functions at risk. As a result, the brain has a harder time clearing harmful protein aggregates linked to Alzheimer’s, leading to oxidative stress, neuroinflammation, and eventually, the loss of cognitive function.

Here’s the reality: there’s no approved drug to treat Alzheimer’s. But there’s good news—your diet can play a crucial role in prevention. Reducing insulin resistance may be one of the most powerful ways to protect your brain. That’s where Metabolic Engineering® comes in.

In this episode, join Mary Perry and me to learn how this groundbreaking dietary approach can help lower your risk of cognitive decline and keep your brain healthier for years to come. 00:00 Intro 01:16 The dramatic rise in insulin resistance throughout our population 02:09 Are there drugs to treat Alzheimer’s? 3:32 What obesity, diabetes and Alzheimers all have in common 4:49 Why activating AMPK is so important. 5:20 Improving production of ATP 7:25 How Metabolic Engineering reduces inflammation 9:17 Blood tests to see if inflammation is reducing, like HOMA-IR, triglycerides to HDL cholesterol.

I can not express my gratitude to you for all you’ve done for me over the years.

In 2010 I was diagnosed with frontal lobe dementia from my 9 NFL caused emergency VP Shunt brain surgeries and resultant gran mal seizures and told to turn in my drivers license, file for SSDI and get my finances in order.

You came in out of the blue in 2011 with your Omegas and antioxidants and that, combined with my Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatments (HBOT) helped me get off all 4 dementia meds I was on, AND my neurocognitive memory scores improved 14.3 % at age 53!

Now 66 and still rolling.

Thank you again Buddy, and please keep me posted if I can ever do anything to help you out.

A major take-away from your video on preventing Alzheimer’s:
The ratio of Triglycerides to HDL Cholesterol should be less 1.
I made a note of that and put in my health file.
THANK YOU!

Dr. Barry Sears says:

Alzheimer’s disease is highly correlated with insulin resistance. The TG/HDL ratio is a good surrogate marker of insulin resistance. Other markers of insulin resistance is HOMA-IR and TG/Glucose index.
