What is the Zone?

The Zone is defined as a dynamic balance of AMPK to mTOR in every cell that allows the body to perform at peak efficiency, maintain the immune system, control inflammation, repair tissue from external and internal injuries, and resist microbial invasions.  Meeting those requirements requires a constant balance of incoming nutrients, including adequate protein balanced by low-glycemic carbohydrates and appropriate levels of monounsaturated fat, then supplemented with other highly deficient nutrients in most diets, such as omega-3 fatty acids and polyphenols. This dietary system is called Metabolic Engineering®.

The primary benefit of Metabolic Engineering® is to maintain your metabolism in an optimal range necessary for activating and resolving inflammation, maintaining peak immune function, repairing damaged tissue, and slowing the aging process.

If you are in the Zone, your body works at peak metabolic efficacy.  This becomes the medical definition of wellness. Being outside the Zone is the first step that may lead to the accumulation of excess body fat, earlier development of chronic disease, and acceleration of aging.
